The representative delegation included ministers of Turkmenistan’s Government, managers of Turkmennebit State Concern – the leader of Turkmenistan’s oil industry. The delegation was accompanied by Ildar Khalikov, Prime Minister of Tatarstan.

The guests plan to visit some of KAMAZ’s facilities. Accompanied by Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ, the guests will visit the main assembly line and a cab assembly conveyor of the Automobile Plant.

The Scientific and Technical Center of the company will demonstrate vehicles, including new models. The delegation will visit the Russian-Italian joint venture producing agricultural equipment – CNH-KAMAZ Industrial BV.

Development of cooperation with Turkmenistan has always been a priority in the foreign economic activity of KAMAZ. In 2006, a representative office of ZAO Foreign Trade Company KAMAZ – KAMAZ FTC Corp. – was opened in Ashgabat. In July 2007, Educational Service Center KAMAZ was established.

The guests visited the Engine Plant, CUMMINS KAMA Joint Venture, the main assembly line of the Automobile Plant. The delegation also visited the KAMAZ-Avtosport center, a headquarters of the KAMAZ-master team, and production areas of KAMAZ’s partners – OAO RIAT and OOO RariTEK.

The representatives of the Federal Forestry Agency were demonstrated a range of KAMAZ trucks and NEFAZ buses with gas engines, as well as new capabilities in manufacturing, maintenance, and operation of vehicles running on natural gas – methane. So, having visited production facilities of RariTEK (the company’s distributor producing NGVs), the delegation members appreciated various systems, components, and gears with which custom-made KAMAZ vehicles are equipped, a mobile vehicle service center (a frame and membrane construction), etc. The guests were very interested in the prospect of organizing their own fleet with the help of a mobile service center. It enables to carry out works directly on-site, which excludes long downtime and vacant run to stationary service centers with minimal capital investments.

Thus, the plant carries out development works to improve the range of trailers, competitiveness, quality, reliability, and manufacturability of mass-produced trailers and semitrailers. The enterprise also improves the basic components of its models and amends the design documentation of commercial products in connection with changes in the requirements of international, national, and industry standards.

The top managers of the plant signed several agreements with foreign manufacturers of advanced materials and components which are currently used in the production of equipment: paint-and-lacquer coating by Helios, Slovenia; ABS by WABCO, Germany; support devices, air and hydraulic suspension by Jost-Werke, Germany.

Besides, the enterprise produces agricultural tipper trailers and semitrailers with reinforced sides due using domestic and imported low-alloy structural steels, which ensure strength and an ability to transport large volumes of cargo. The technology of paint-and-lacquer coating of trailers was radically changed. Traditional ground-enamel painting was replaced with two layer coating: 2-component priming and one-component polyurethane enamel. Helios paint-and-lacquer coating features highly protective and decorative properties.

The company introduces advanced technologies of surface preparation before painting, such as cleaning with chemical compositions by Henkel, Germany. For this purpose, the company purchased washing machines by Kärcher.

The electrical system is adapted to severe road conditions due to the use of harness, wires in a sealed corrugated sheath and replacement of traditional side lights with energy-efficient LED lights.

Industrial Park provides its facilities to implement various projects: production of brake blocks, lights for KAMAZ vehicles, charging and delivery of accumulators to the conveyor, production of electronic devices, metal-cutting tools. Last year, the company realized 3,381 vehicles, 2,968 of which were trucks. This is 12% of the total sales volume of the distribution network of OJSC KAMAZ. The net income increased 4.7 times against the previous year of 2010 and amounted to 303 million rubles. The company improved its performance due to the well-coordinated work with dealers, high-quality service, and attractive lease terms.

Andrey Gladkov mentioned that the main tendency on the leasing market was its steady growth and development, especially in the segment of trucks. Market growth depends only on potential lessees’ financial capacities. 20% of the fleet in Russia is 20-year-old vehicles which must be replaced. 5-7% vehicles, on the average, are replaced in Europe every year, whereas in Russia this figure is less than 2-3%.

During the visit, the guests saw KAMAZ’s service center, the range of KAMAZ vehicles running on methane, an area for installation of an automatic centralized lubrication system by Lincoln, and a mobile auto service center (prefabricated shed). At the area of finished products, the guests from Novosibirsk got acquainted with a next-generation product developed by KAMAZ – KAMAZ-43118-30 which will soon become another commercial vehicle running on compressed natural gas.

Sibir Industrial and Construction Concern and RariTEK, a distributor of OJSC KAMAZ producing gas-powered equipment, have been cooperating since 2011 when the Siberians purchased ten KAMAZ trucks running on methane. Within a short period of time, the clients from Novosibirsk realized advantages of transition to new fuel technologies. They decided to switch from diesel to gas cars after they had been using combined gas-diesel cars for several years. It turned out that it is more profitable to use KAMAZ vehicles equipped with serial gas engines running on pure methane. The use of methane enables to significantly save on the cost of cargo transportation. KAMAZ gas engines require wear-and-tear repair three times as rarely as diesel engines, which is also very profitable.

Another competitive advantage of compressed natural gas is its permanent quality: methane cannot be diluted, like gasoline at small refueling stations sometimes, and it can’t be "summer" or "winter" like diesel fuel. Are customers satisfied with KAMAZ trucks? This question was answered by purchasers of vehicles in the course of monitoring which was carried out by the auto giant.

As it turned out, customers were very loyal to KAMAZ’s brand in 2011 – 71% of customers bought, will buy and will advise their friends to buy KAMAZ trucks. KAMAZ managed to achieve such a successful result due to high consumer properties of the whole range of vehicles series-produced by the company.

Among the models which received positive feedback from customers were the KAMAZ-6520 heavy-duty truck, the KAMAZ-65117 high-sided vehicle, and the KAMAZ-65115 truck. All these vehicles are made of components produced by the world`s leading manufacturers, are equipped with new Cummins and KAMAZ diesel engines, ZF gearboxes manufactured by ZF KAMA Joint Venture, as well as restyled cabs which are far more comfortable for drivers than their older versions.

According to customers, they are mainly satisfied with the following properties of KAMAZ vehicles: cross-country ability, carrying capacity, maintainability, availability of spare parts, and ability to adapt to heavy road conditions. The total index of satisfaction with OJSC KAMAZ’s products and services made 7.8 out of possible 10 scores on the average for 2011. KAMAZ’s competitors – MAZ and UralAZ – scored 6.5.
