Open Sky over Zakamye
Begishevo International Airport, the air gateway of the whole Zakamye Region (Tatarstan Republic), proclaims the “open sky” policy.
OJSC KAMAZ and OJSC Holding Company Ak Bars declare that the policy of “open sky” means equality of all airlines without exception, including foreign ones, irrespective of a form of property, belonging and airports of location, before BEGISHEVO International Airport. But in reality this is an official statement of the existent state of affairs and an actual spread of the current practice on all potential partners of OJSC BEGISHEVO AIRPORT. The airport offers high-class ground maintenance to aircrafts and services to clients of all airlines, pursues a unified tariff policy and guarantees free access to information about services, the order of their performance, tariffs and dues. In addition to that BEGISHEVO airport work with each airline individually, on a mutually advantageous basis, respecting and appreciating its partners’ interests.
From June 2008 OJSC KAMAZ is the main stockholder of OJSC AIRPORT BEGISHEVO. In a period from 2008 to 2009 investments were made in capital and ground-support equipment renewals which allowed BEGISHEVO airport to receive class 1-2 foreign aircrafts.
To date Begishevo is the only international airport of Zakamye and its industrial towns: Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Zainsk, Yelabuga, Mendeleevsk, and Menzelinsk with population of about 1.35 million people and Gross Regional Product of more than half of Tatarstan’s GRP.
In March 1998 the enterprise received an international status. To date aircrafts of the airport’s 6 partners regularly fly from BEGISHEVO airport. The aircrafts of Tatarstan, Ak Bars Aero, UTair, and Avianova airlines get their passengers to all largest airports of Moscow, and also to St. Petersburg, Sochi and other cities of Russia. Charter flights to the largest international airports of the whole world are also organized. Orenburg Airlines and Red Wings companies basically serve international directions of passenger transportation via BEGISHEVO airport – for example, to resort towns Taba, Sharm el-Sheikh, Antalya, etc.
During the operation of BEGISHEVO airport as an independent enterprise its economic performance noticeably improved. Last year – in 2009 – its total passenger traffic increased by 8.2% against 2008, and for the first half-year of 2010 it grew by 76.5% compared with the same period in 2009. For the first half-year of 2010 the number of aircraft departures rose by 25.8% against 2009, including those of international airlines which went up by 8.6%.

On Leave in August
For a period from 2 to 27 August the majority of OJSC KAMAZ’s employees will go on annual corporative paid leave.
The decision about it was made by OJSC KAMAZ’s management jointly with the trade-union committee as far back as last year. According to Yury Klochkov, First Deputy Director General and CEO of OJSC KAMAZ, the European auto producers normally use this practice enabling to considerably cut costs: as utilities are not used, sizable means are saved. Besides, there is no need for the KAMAZ workers to combine jobs and work for those on leave. But not all employees will be on holiday: a part of the personnel – a sale service, maintenance personnel, and some other categories of employees – will work all the same.
Suspension of production will be used for repair and modernization of equipment which usually operates round-the-clock.

Preparing Memorandum of Cooperation
Today a working meeting of representatives of nonprofit organizations – the Association of Russian Automakers (OAR) and the Association of European Businesses (AEB) – took place in Moscow where they discussed the text of the Memorandum of Cooperation and the further lines of cooperation of the Russian and foreign automobile manufacturers. The delegation was headed by Sergey Kogoghin, Chairman of the OAR’s Board, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ on the Russian part, and by Dr. Frank Schauff, CEO of the AEB in the RF on the AEB’s part.
Preparation for this meeting started from Dr. Frank Schauff’s and Sergey Kogoghin’s private conversation at the International Forum “Engineering Technologies 2010” held from June 30, 2010 to July 4, 2010.
Mutually considering it necessary to broaden the EU and RF automakers’ cooperation in the sphere of mechanical engineering, the parties determined the organizations’ main areas of cooperation. They include organization and holding of vehicle shows, joint events to improve the quality of automobile fuel in the Russian market.
Under the draft, the parties are to exchange data of statistics, vehicle production and sales in the RF and the EU. The parties expressed their interest in preparation of suggestions to the Russian Government concerning import of vehicles to the country and a customs and tariff policy. Special attention was paid to the issues of development of technical regulations concerning the RF requirements to wheeled vehicles and vehicle components harmonized with the EU directives and introduction of ISO/TU 16949-2002 standards at enterprises of the domestic automobile industry.
The document doesn’t provide for the parties’ financial obligations, but it doesn’t belittle its importance: to date the Association of Russian Automakers includes a number of foreign automobile producers, such as General Motors, Renault, and Volvo. Therefore the Memorandum of Cooperation which the participants of the meeting plan to sign already in August at the Moscow international Motor Show (August 27, 2010 – September 5, 2010) is an important stage in the development of the home automobile industry and in the process of its integration into the international business relations system.

KAMAZ’s Representative Office in Ukraine Celebrates its Anniversary with Sales Growth
Three years ago KAMAZ opened its trade office in Ukraine. These three years were difficult, but the Ukrainian sales and service network of OJSC KAMAZ celebrates its anniversary in 2010 confidently facing the future.
To date OJSC KAMAZ has got not only its trade office in Ukraine. The Russian corporation adopted a new scheme of production delivery to this country: via an official importer. A decision to establish the single importing company was announced at OJSC KAMAZ’s official dealers’ meeting which took place on April 28, 2010 in Kiev. KAMAZ’s strategy in the Ukrainian market included development of Chernigovsky Automobile Center KAMAZ on the basis of which it was decided to establish KAMAZ’s Trade Company – OJSC KAMAZ’s subsidiary. The whole KAMAZ trade and service network in Ukraine includes 9 dealer organizations and 10 authorized service centers.
The consequences of the global financial crisis adversely affected OJSC KAMAZ’s clients’ and the Ukrainian customers’ purchasing power. However, specialists of the trade and service network managed to turn developments of the last two years to their own, KAMAZ’s and KAMAZ’s customers’ advantage working in close cooperation with the management of the main office.
According to the data of AUTO-Consulting Information Analysis Group, in the first half-year 2010 the share of KAMAZ’s production made 31% in the Ukrainian market in the segment of trucks with payload of over 16t. More often such equipment is used in the agrarian sector strategically important for the Ukrainian economy. There are “stars” and “outsiders” among vehicles in this area. To the former belong KAMAZ vehicles the most popular of which is KAMAZ-45143. This model alone takes 13.2% of the Ukrainian market of trucks with payload of over 16t!
KAMAZ’s production takes a bit smaller volume in the market of trucks with payload of 8-16t: in the first half-year it formed 17.2%. There is something to be proud of though: its increase made up 8% in comparison with the first half-year of 2009.

KAMAZ-master Team’s New “Weapon”
From this autumn the KAMAZ-master team will compete on trucks of a new construction in international rallies.
Within 9 months the designers of the team developed and made the new race car. Currently the new “weapon” of the KAMAZ-master team is being thoroughly tested before the “Silk Way” rally.
The new race car was presented on the team’s proving ground in the settlement of Tarlovka not far from Naberezhnye Chelny. The main kinds of obstacles which the KAMAZ race car will have to bridge in the course of the rally are simulated on the track 17 kilometers long.
Vladimir Chaguin, the team’s legendary pilot noted that creating the new vehicle the constructors had mainly tried to reduce its weight so long as a power force component of the vehicle had been perfect and effective enough.
One can easily notice the design changes of the KAMAZ sport car immediately. The designers moved the cab backwards as much as it was possible taking into account technical requirements. They even had to remove a footstep for the pilots. The platform of the vehicle is lower than before, and the body geometry was changed in order to improve its aerodynamic qualities. The road weight of the vehicle is 9.3 tonnes, the engine power of 850 hp enables to speed up the vehicle to 100 km/h for 9.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is 196 kilometers an hour.
The “Silk Way” rally raid will be held from 11 to 18 September 2010 on the route St. Petersburg – Sochi. The KAMAZ-master team is supposed to send its 7-8 crews to the rally. Seven of them will be headed by Vladimir Chaguin, Firdaus Kabirov, Ilghizar Mardeev, his son Ayrat Mardeev, Eduard Nikolaev, Andrey Karginov and television anchorman Andrey Leontyev. If Tatarstan’s President Rustam Minnikhanov has time and an opportunity to take a leave and participate in the rally, the eighth crew will be headed exactly by him. The head of the republic haven’t finally confirmed his participation in the rally so far.
