KAMAZ: Best for Homeland
OJSC KAMAZ takes part in the 4th International Salon of Weapons and Military Equipment MVSV 2010 which will open tomorrow, on 30 June, in Zhukovsky within the bounds of the 1st International Forum “Technologies in Mechanical Engineering 2010”.
Vehicles on KAMAZ chassis with their perfect technical and tactical characteristics form the most numerous group in the vehicle fleet of the RF Armed Forces – about 50 thousand units. Over 350 models of military equipment are mounted on KAMAZ chassis.
OJSC KAMAZ presents its equipment with up-to-date technical and tactical characteristics at the exhibition.
One of the “gems” of the exposition is the legendary KAMAZ-43501-VDV (on the basis of the KAMAZ-4350 vehicle) made by OJSC KAMAZ in close cooperation with the Main Directorate of the RF Airborne Troops. The vehicle differs from its analogues produced in Russia and the CIS countries in its design features enabling to airdrop it on a parachute platform.
The armoured vehicle KAMAZ-43269 Vystrel is acknowledged to be splendid, being not inferior to the T-80 UK tank in its cross-country ability. Consumers in the Russian Army and abroad appreciated the KAMAZ-6560 (8x8), the most high-powered vehicle of the Kama automobile plant at MVSV 2010: its brand engine produces 400 Horsepower. Another KAMAZ’s heavy-duty vehicle is the most high-powered representative of the Mustang line – KAMAZ-6350 (8x8). It is presented in the version of a drop-side truck tractor with secondary protection equipment at the exhibition. Its upgraded version – the artillery tractor KAMAZ-63501 with an armoured cab and a habitable module for a team – always attracts specialists’ heightened attention at such events. One of the most reliable models of military equipment is the world-famous multipurpose vehicle KAMAZ-5350 (6x6). The multipurpose armoured vehicle equipped with an armoured cab and a functional module MM-501 is presented at MVSV 2010.
The portable diesel-engine electrical power plant ED100-T400-1RP is indispensable in the field. It is made on the basis of a KAMAZ 740.19-200 engine, mounted under an all-weather hood and on a trailer chassis. Electric equipment installed on the trailer enables to deliver electric power to remote settlements, institutions, enterprises, warehouses and depots with the help of the truck tractor as soon as possible.
The visitors of the exhibition will be able to see some of the presented models in a dynamic show. Besides KAMAZ’s equipment demonstrated in dynamic and static shows, OJSC KAMAZ is presented as a promising partner and a reliable producer on the stand of Russian Technologies State Corporation in the exhibition hall.
Emphasizing the role of the Kama automobile giant Vladimir Putin, Russia’s Prime Minister once noted that KAMAZ was “becoming even more significant not only for the Russian automobile industry, but also for the domestic economy on the whole, producing competitive products both domestically and abroad”. KAMAZ’s workers try to make products corresponding to so high an assessment.

KAMAZ Stockholders’ Meeting
On 25 June KAMAZ stockholders’ annual meeting took place in Naberezhnye Chelny.
In his report Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ summed up the results of the company’s work in 2009. He noted that KAMAZ had successfully worked in 2009 trying to overcome the consequences of the global financial crisis. The total volume of the 14-40 tonne GVW truck market in Russia decreased 3.2 times as much (by 69%), as compared with 2008. At the same time, having sold 25.9 thousand units of automotive equipment (3.9 thousand of them were exported) KAMAZ managed to keep the falling yield on the level of 45.4%, and the company’s sales share in the Russian market increased from 28% to 55%.
The demand for trucks would have decreased even more without supportive measures implemented by the RF Government in good time. Public vehicle purchasing programs were very important for the company. 60.5 billion roubles of budgetary funds were allocated for them in 2009. About 23% of them were spent to purchase KAMAZ production.
A decision to prolongate a validity term of heightened rates of entrance custom duties on commercial vehicles became another effective step to defend the automobile market and domestic manufacturers. Other measures of the state support – provision of state guarantees, subsidizing of interest rates on export credits and measures to stabilize the situation in the labour-market – also exerted their significant positive influence upon the financial and economic condition of automobile enterprises.
As far back as at the end of 2008 KAMAZ planned a number of crisis-management measures for 2009 which included, firstly, a program of sales activization in the free market, secondly, cost saving along all the lines of activity, and thirdly, optimization of a circulating capital at the expense of reduction of the redundant rest of end products and unfinished production reserves. As a result, the company managed to maintain a positive cash flow from operations, to avoid payment defaults and continue financing its most important investment projects.
The company sets itself the following tasks for 2010: to increase the realized production volume to 27 thousand vehicles and consolidated proceeds of the KAMAZ Group to 66 billion roubles with EBITDA profitability of no less than 7.0%.
Even in today’s difficult situation the KAMAZ Group undertakes to strengthen positions of the Russian leading truck producer well-known in the global automobile market. The main tasks are to keep the company’s development potential and make it an adaptive, effective, global company able to produce competitive products in its segments. Developed and adopted was a large-scale investment program. Implementation of its projects will enable to develop a diversified model line by 2013 which will be based on modern components produced by the KAMAZ Group in partnership with global producers.
In a long-term prospect (to 2018) the company’s main strategic aim will be to completely build an adaptive, effective and global company.
By means of a cumulative voting the participants of the meeting elected new members of the company’s management representative bodies – the Board of Directors and the Auditing Committee of OJSC KAMAZ. The results of the election will be published in July.

P&SP Launches New Cab Painting Line
On 25 June a new cab painting line will be launched at the Press and Stamping Plant of KAMAZ which is the last action in realization of the company’s large-scale investment project.
Sergey Chemezov, Director General of Russian Technologies State Corporation, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OJSC KAMAZ; Ildar Khalikov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan; Hans-Joachim Strese, Vice President of Dürr Systems GmbH of Components plan to participate in the solemn ceremony opening the painting line produced by Dürr (Germany). They will be welcomed by Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ and Gamil Zaripov, Director General of Kama Press and Stamping Plant OJSC at the plant.
KAMAZ’s investment project intended for creation of the modern production line for painting of KAMAZ truck cabs has been realized step-by-step during 4 years. The agreement with Dürr on deliveries of components of the painting line was signed in 2006. At the initial stage, by November 2007, the plant had been mounted for cab details surface preparation and cataphoresis priming. Process chambers of the painting line were launched in March 2008, and the second priming painting chamber with a drying chamber was put into service in November 2009. A finishing coating painting chamber – also with a drying chamber – was mounted at the last, fourth stage. The line speed is 75 thousand cabs a year with a possible speed-up to 125 thousand units. KAMAZ’s total investments in this project formed 1.5 billion roubles.
According to experts, the commissioning of the Dürr line will increase corrosion resistance of cab details of KAMAZ trucks three times as much, ensure high quality and ornamentality of a paint-and-lacquer coating and considerably decrease manual labour due to the use of 12 robot painters. Besides, lead won’t be used in paint-and-lacquer materials, waste products will decrease by 20%, and the total emission will be reduced by 50%.

High Assessment of KAMAZ’s Activities
Revitalization of the Russian economy and restoration of the country’s automobile market after the crisis, as well as financial results 2009 ought to raise KAMAZ stock prices dramatically.
This statement was made by VTB Capital, Investment Business of VTB International Financial Group, in its press release. The authoritative investment company considers KAMAZ stocks obviously underestimated and enhances their anticipated price to 3.19 US dollars which is by 44% higher than the current level.
According to the results 2009, KAMAZ controlled 55% of the Russian heavy-duty truck market, and the company should especially gain from the present process of the market rehabilitation the rate of which exceeds analysts’ expectations. In addition, VTB Capital supposes that, among other things, the existent quotations don’t take into account a long-term growth potential of the Russian heavy-duty truck market and prospects of KAMAZ which will remain the leader for a long time, beyond question. Therefore such further developments when KAMAZ’s stocks will cost more than 3.5 US dollars that is by 59% higher than their current price are not ruled out either.

Strategic Partners’ Consortium Increases its Stake in OJSC KAMAZ
June 18, 2010 | Press Release |

Russian Technologies State Corporation, Daimler AG, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Troika Dialog, and OJSC KAMAZ on June 17, 2010 jointly announced the successful signing of a deal under which Russian Technologies State Corporation, Daimler AG, and the EBRD each have increased equity stakes in the Russian heavy-truck manufacturer OJSC KAMAZ.
On February 11, 2010, the strategic partners had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) governing the increase of the equity stakes in OJSC KAMAZ. Its implementation has now led to a further strengthening of the strategic partnership.
Under the terms of the deal, Russian state corporation Russian Technologies acquired a 12.12% stake in KAMAZ. Russian Technologies’ share in KAMAZ following the deal has increased to 49.9%.
Separately, Daimler AG, acting as a strategic partner, has acquired a 1% stake in KAMAZ. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in close partnership with Daimler AG, has acquired a stake in KAMAZ as a part of the long-term strategic plan agreed with the company’s main shareholders and management. The investments of the EBRD have enabled to increase the joint stake of the partners – the EBRD and Daimler AG – to 15%.
Sergey Chemezov, General Director of Russian Technologies State Corporation, said: “This is a landmark deal for Russia’s auto industry: despite current market volatility, the signatories to the strategic partnership signed in December 2008 have agreed to increase their participation in KAMAZ, bringing greater amounts of foreign expertise and investment to Russia’s auto industry and providing a timely example of the ongoing internationalization of Russia’s economy.”
Commenting the deal, Andreas Renschler, Daimler Board of Management member responsible for Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses said: “This deal increasing Daimler’s stake in KAMAZ indicates a broadening of our companies’ partnership, greater technological cooperation and a long-term commitment to collaboration. The Russian market remains one of the most promising strategic areas for Daimler and one where we anticipate significant growth over time.”
Alain Pilloux, the EBRD’s Managing Director for Industry, Commerce and Agribusiness, said: “This is an historic chance to show the investment community how one of the Russian industrial giants can partner with a strategic investor to modernise its products, compete internationally, save energy and promote environmental sustainability.”
Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ, added: “We readily welcome increased stakes of strategic shareholders like Russian Technologies State Corporation and Daimler together with the EBRD. This kind of gradual, step-by-step attainment of a greater share in the company signals a sincere interest in long-term partnership, a commitment to increased transfer of technology, as well as the desire to develop business and pursue a broader range of joint projects. All of which bodes very well for the future evolution of our business.”
Ruben Vardanian, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Troika Dialog, said: “It’s very gratifying that Russian Technologies, Daimler and the EBRD have evolved into such reliable, long-term partners for KAMAZ. This deal is the logical progression of the strategic partnership agreed in December 2008, and the fact that the group of strategic partners has agreed to increase its participation demonstrates their strong belief in the Russian auto industry and its future prospects. Troika has been honoured to advise on each stage of this landmark process, and to remain as one of KAMAZ’s shareholders in a broader shareholder structure following today’s transactions.”

The Order “For Services to the Fatherland” 4th Class was awarded to pilots Vladimir Chagin and Firdaus Kabirov, navigator Sergey Savostin and leader of the KAMAZ-master team Semyon Yakubov. Pilot Ilgizar Mardeev and mechanic Eduard Nikolaev were awarded the Order of Friendship. The title “Honoured Worker of Transport of Russia” was given to Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ – a titular sponsor of the team.
Routes of the last two “Dakars” passed through the territories of Argentina and Chile, and both were victorious for the KAMAZ-master team. Vladimir Chagin became the winner of today’s most prestigious rally marathon for the sixth time in his career. His crew consisting of navigator Sergey Savostin and mechanic Eduard Nikolaev performed best of all on the stages of “Dakar-2010” nine times, and Vladimir himself brought the number of his “Dakar” victories up to 56, having established a record among all-class participants of the whole race history.
Two-fold “Dakar” winner Firdaus Kabirov’s crew consisting of navigator Aydar Belyaev and mechanic Andrey Mokeev became the second one, having gained 5 victories on stages. Firdaus Kabirov overstepped the mark of 30 victories on “Dakar” stages.
Ilgizar Mardeev’s crew took fifth place, having won in the last stage of this off-road rally.
Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev noted that KAMAZ-master was the only team which had managed to finish the race without losses. All three crews finished among the leaders. “The ninth victory of the KAMAZ-master team is an additional evidence of the Russian sportsmen’s first class, as well as demonstration of excellent potential of the domestic automotive equipment,” he said.

“Everything like in Europe!”
Sanitation of the main production areas of vehicle assembly in the KAMAZ automobile plant is completed.
Modern materials were used to renew a floor coating, new general and local lighting fixtures were mounted, capital and auxiliary equipment, tool sets, tares and working spaces were repaired and painted on two lines of the mother vehicle assembly conveyor and in a vehicle kitting and delivery shop with a gross area of about 200 thousand square meters. Industrial engineering was adjusted in accordance with the requirements of the KAMAZ Production System. Earlier the same sanitation was carried out on a cab assembly conveyor, too.
Today Yury Klochkov, First Deputy Director General – CEO of OJSC KAMAZ presented top managers of KAMAZ plants and subsidiaries a renovated vehicle assembly unit. He explained to his colleagues that sanitation expenses made 115 million roubles, and a part of costs (of 92 million roubles) has already been reimbursed during the past 5 months of the year. Thereby, in the second half year they will be fully compensated. In addition, 45 thousand square meters of areas were vacated as a result of the production reorganization.
The chief thing is that productivity of labour noticeably grew by the new production organization – now it is twice as high as it was before the start of the reorganization. The personnel’s attitude to work and build quality of vehicles changed for the better. Yury Klochkov also said that sanitation and reorganization would be carried out in the whole building of the automobile plant, and the finishing production of the company would share its experience with other KAMAZ plants and subdivisions.
The workers of the assembly production of the automobile plant characterized the changes in labour conditions briefly: “Now we have everything like in Europe!”

KAMAZ Adopted New Scheme of Deliveries to Ukraine
KAMAZ introduced a new scheme of its production deliveries to Ukraine – via an official importer. The new system will enable the Russian company to promptly supply Ukrainian enterprises with modern trucks and automotive equipment at moderate prices.
The decision to establish the single importing company was announced at KAMAZ official dealers’ meeting in Kiev. Great attention paid to this issue at KAMAZ was emphasized by the fact that the event was held under the guidance of Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ.
Now the Ukrainian KAMAZ vehicle fleet includes 75 thousand vehicles. This fact naturally raises the issues of organizing and developing the company’s dealer and service network. To date, it includes 9 objects, the largest of which have a developed network of regional warehouses and subsidiaries at their disposal. The total number of subsidiaries exceeds 200 units. The KAMAZ management’s decision to establish KAMAZ Trading Company – a daughter enterprise of OJSC KAMAZ – was a step forward in the company’s strategic development in the Ukrainian market. This company will become the official importer (distributor) of KAMAZ products on the territory of Ukraine.
In the first place, the problems of regular deliveries and warranty services will quickly be solved. It is planned to establish a warehouse for persistent storage of the most popular KAMAZ vehicles in Ukraine.

KAMAZ Vehicles for Kazakhstan
KAMAZ participated in the 1st International Exhibition of Arms and Military-Technical Equipment KADEX-2010 organized by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the status and high rank of Kazakhstan’s exhibition, KAMAZ presented an extensive exposition of its army- and dual-purpose equipment on diverse KAMAZ chassis. The visitors with shoulder straps showed their great interest in 4 side vehicles, 2 fuelers, a water carrier, a wrecking car with a side platform and a crane-manipulator, a command and control vehicle, a field kitchen, a variable section container, a power plant using a diesel KAMAZ engine with a rated brake power of 100 kilowatt and a four-axle chassis for mounting of special equipment.
These vehicles were presented by OAO KAMAZ-Engineering, the Russian company’s subsidiary established in Kazakhstan in June 2005, and its assembly enterprise in the city of Kokshetau which had launched production of KAMAZ vehicles in Kazakhstan in August 2005. Manual Therapy from Valery Gergiev
A concert given by the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra (St. Petersburg) under Valery Gergiev at the Organ Hall in Naberezhnye Chelny on KAMAZ’s invitation became a big event in the city’s cultural life and a remarkable charity performance on 1 of June, International Children’s Day.
All funds raised from sales of tickets to the concert of the world-famous orchestra, handicrafts and paintings by children exhibited in the foyer of the Organ Hall in addition to private donations were presented to the “Children with Cerebral Palsy” Foundation and the “Emerald City” Project which helps children suffering from cerebral spastic infantile paralysis in their medical treatment and rehabilitation. The Foundation was established three years ago on KAMAZ’s initiative, and in 2007-2009 it organized trips for several groups of children to Truskavets – the only health resort on the territory of the CIS countries where children can undergo a course of medical treatment for cerebral palsy under the guidance of well-known doctor Vladimir Kozyavkin. Young citizens of Naberezhnye Chelny who have this illness received the tickets for free as a present from the mentioned foundation.
To date the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, one of the oldest in Russia, is among the world’s top ten orchestras. This is the only high-level instrumental ensemble representing Russia in the rating of the largest Britain newspaper – The Financial Times. Mr. Valery Gergiev, general director and artistic director of the Mariinsky Theatre and principal conductor of its orchestra, has been at the head of the orchestra since 1996.
The program of the charity concert included works by Edvard Grieg, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Pyotr Tchaikovsky. This was the famous musician’s first visit to Naberezhnye Chelny.
Gergiev’s style of performance is unique; it is manual therapy to some degree. The maestro conducts with all ten fingers. There is nothing affected in his plastique, and every note is not only audible, but also “visible”. Gergiev conducts the orchestra and, surprisingly, the audience too.
After Brahms’ Hungarian Dance played by the musicians an encore Mr. Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ and Mr. Vasil Shaykhraziev, Head of the city’s Executive Committee appeared on the stage. Mr. Shaykhraziev called this event “a cultural revolution”. This term was explained by the top manager of KAMAZ:
– This April I happened upon Valery Gergiev in Sberbank’s office in Moscow. Our dialogue there resulted in this wonderful concert. We thank the musicians very much for their inspired performance! I think today we have started a new tradition; we will be friends with the outstanding musicians of the Mariinsky Theatre and maestro Valery Gergiev.
