Open Sky over Zakamye

Begishevo International Airport, the air gateway of the whole Zakamye Region (Tatarstan Republic), proclaims the “open sky” policy.

OJSC KAMAZ and OJSC Holding Company Ak Bars declare that the policy of “open sky” means equality of all airlines without exception, including foreign ones, irrespective of a form of property, belonging and airports of location, before BEGISHEVO International Airport. But in reality this is an official statement of the existent state of affairs and an actual spread of the current practice on all potential partners of OJSC BEGISHEVO AIRPORT. The airport offers high-class ground maintenance to aircrafts and services to clients of all airlines, pursues a unified tariff policy and guarantees free access to information about services, the order of their performance, tariffs and dues. In addition to that BEGISHEVO airport work with each airline individually, on a mutually advantageous basis, respecting and appreciating its partners’ interests.

From June 2008 OJSC KAMAZ is the main stockholder of OJSC AIRPORT BEGISHEVO. In a period from 2008 to 2009 investments were made in capital and ground-support equipment renewals which allowed BEGISHEVO airport to receive class 1-2 foreign aircrafts.

To date Begishevo is the only international airport of Zakamye and its industrial towns: Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Zainsk, Yelabuga, Mendeleevsk, and Menzelinsk with population of about 1.35 million people and Gross Regional Product of more than half of Tatarstan’s GRP.

In March 1998 the enterprise received an international status. To date aircrafts of the airport’s 6 partners regularly fly from BEGISHEVO airport. The aircrafts of Tatarstan, Ak Bars Aero, UTair, and Avianova airlines get their passengers to all largest airports of Moscow, and also to St. Petersburg, Sochi and other cities of Russia. Charter flights to the largest international airports of the whole world are also organized. Orenburg Airlines and Red Wings companies basically serve international directions of passenger transportation via BEGISHEVO airport – for example, to resort towns Taba, Sharm el-Sheikh, Antalya, etc.

During the operation of BEGISHEVO airport as an independent enterprise its economic performance noticeably improved. Last year – in 2009 – its total passenger traffic increased by 8.2% against 2008, and for the first half-year of 2010 it grew by 76.5% compared with the same period in 2009. For the first half-year of 2010 the number of aircraft departures rose by 25.8% against 2009, including those of international airlines which went up by 8.6%.
