KAMAZ-master Undergoes Final Check

31 December 2016

The KAMAZ-master team is undergoing the last technical and administrative inspection on the eve of the legendary Dakar-2017 rally to be officially started in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay, on the 2nd of January.

The members of the KAMAZ-master team arrived in Argentina in two groups: the first one was as early as 25 December there, and the second one joined them three days later. Now they need to pass the last test before the start of the Dakar. As a reminder, the participants of the race, its organizers and the accredited press from different countries should without fail undergo administrative and technical checks, i.e. a whole series of various control and other procedures, ranging from taking photos of participants and installation of navigation equipment to checking vehicles' compliance with the racing technical regulations - more than ten steps altogether.

In particular, the administrative part implies that the organizers check validity of the participants' passports and visas, registration certificates, racing licenses, driving licenses, as well as licenses issued by the national automobile federation entitling to perform in races abroad and owners' permissions to use vehicles. Also, the organizers receive all the necessary medical information about the participants of the rally. In addition, various technical devices are checked in operation. The crews receive systems reporting overtaking and incidents on the road, equipment allowing the organizers to follow the crews and to keep in touch with them, as well as a tracking device reporting the exact location of the vehicle.

The technical part includes checking machines for compliance with the regulations of the race, checking vehicle documents and the FIA documentation, and testing pilot and navigator equipment. It includes overalls, underwear, balaclavas, socks, shoes, gloves, HANS (head and neck support), helmets.
