Trolleybuses from NEFAZ

22 February 2017

The first body of the new low-entry trolleybus was built at NEFAZ, a subsidiary of KAMAZ PTC in Bashkiria.

NEFAZ PTC is manufacturing the new line of products in partnership with Ufa Tram and Trolleybus Plant (UTTZ). The body of the first trolleybus was delivered to UTTZ where it will be equipped with electrical equipment.

"Implementation of this project is a significant event for us," said General Director of NEFAZ PTC Sergey Zuikov. He stressed that this was a new trend for the company, an increase in production volumes and new solutions that had not yet been applied.

According to CEO of UTTZ Denis Rassadnikov, the ways of cooperation are being worked out nowadays. "Research and development works have been carried out. As a result, three projects of trolleybuses are under consideration: with a medium floor level (this is our first born), as well as trolley buses with varying flo or levels and low-floor buses," he explained.

Trolleys produced by NEFAZ PTC in cooperation with Ufa Tram and Trolleybus Plant will differ from models in the Russian market not only in consumer properties, but also in price. "Our new medium-floor trolleybus will be twice more affordable than Russian models, which will be added to the trolley parks of Ufa and other cities for less money," said Denis Rassadnikov.

The body of the trolleybus is in a contemporary style and painted orange, which makes the new lineup of passenger vehicles more visible on the roads. Technical features of the model are characteristic of KAMAZ products. This is a solid body frame, proven chassis and steering. Taking into account the unified platform, many details of the NEFAZ bus will be interchangeable. Another important advantage is that the passenger compartment of the trolley is equipped with a number of heaters, which will consistently maintain temperature comfortable for a driver and passengers.

In late February, the first medium-floor trolley of co-production will undergo testing in Ufa. The model was included in the program of modernization of Ufa's rolling stock. By the end of the year ten of these machines will run on the streets of the city.

In addition, the low-floor trolleybus will be designed to be presented at the exhibition of public transport in Moscow in early April.
