4 April 2023

Today, on April 4, Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ PTC and Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, visited Moskvich plant. In their presence, an agreement was signed between Moscow Automobile Factory Moskvich and Flot LLC on the delivery of two thousand Moskvich 3e electric cars for Yandex.Taxi partner taxi companies.

Earlier in February 2023, a similar agreement was signed on the supply of 3 thousand Moskvich 3 crossovers for taxi and carsharing. The first 50 cars joined the fleet of Yandex.Taxi in April.

"We are glad that KAMAZ's experience serves the further development of the Russian car industry, in accordance with the global trend for environmentally friendly cars. Today there is a clear vector for innovative automobile construction and eco-friendly future, the demand for electric cars is growing. And our joint project corresponds to the modern world tendencies. The priority of the Moskvich plant will be the production of modern electric cars that can be used as personal and city transport. Moskvich electric cars will soon be used in taxi and carshare fleets. With the transfer of a large batch of vehicles for these purposes, our joint project is reaching a new level," commented Sergey Kogogin. The head of KAMAZ also stressed that by launching the Moskvich project the partners made necessary steps towards import substitution, saturation of the Russian market with in-demand domestic passenger cars and strengthening of the technological sovereignty.

It should be reminded that in November 2022, KAMAZ and the Government of Moscow launched Moskvich vehicles production at Moscow Automobile Factory. KAMAZ is the technological partner of the project. The Government of Moscow signed an Agreement for Technological Cooperation with Russia's largest automotive company, a long-standing and reliable partner in the implementation of projects in the field of urban transportation, in order to launch the project as soon as possible.

KAMAZ has a successful experience in crisis management, as well as the experience of SKD with the subsequent increase in localization. The company is also one of the Russian leaders in the development and production of commercial vehicles, electric transport and self-driving innovative products, which will also contribute to the revival of Moskvich.

The term of the project is 6 years, and the work will be done in three stages. At Stage I, in November-December 2022, the car factory started producing disassembled knocked-down (DKD) Moskvich 3 cars and electric cars with a gradual increase in the share of localization. At the same time, the plant is developing its own universal platform for the Russian electric car, as well as organizing the production of key automotive components.

At Stage II, beginning in 2023, complete knock-down (CKD) operations will be launched in parallel with DKD, and the level of localization will increase due to the involvement of a wider pool of Russian automotive component suppliers.

At Stage III, Moskvich will start manufacturing its own electric car fr om the most important Russian components on a universal platform (batteries, engines, gearbox).

At the moment, more than 7 thousand cars have already been assembled at the plant. Plans for 2023 include production of 50 thousand vehicles, including 10 thousand units with electric motors. Moskvich cars sales started on March 3, 2023 in 23 cities of Russia, wh ere the company dealers are represented.
