KAMAZ Openes New Project to Repair Imported Tools

9 June 2017

The repair and tool making plant of KAMAZ PTC (part of Rostec State Corporation) launched a project for repair of imported tools with the use of spare parts of its own make which helped to save more than one million roubles for two months.

The project has a working title - Optimization of Maintenance Service and Repair of Hand-Impact Air Wrenches. Imported air wrenches are easy-to-use and functional tools which the frame assembly shop of the press and stamping plant has been using for almost ten years. In view of intense operation (each tool makes about 500 major junctions daily), air wrenches break at the conveyor very often.

Previously these tools were maintained by outside companies. But after the prices for services had jumped almost one and a half times, the managers of the repair and tool making plant started thinking how they could reduce KAMAZ's expenses. Now all necessary components are made in the spare parts shop, and the tools are repaired in the workshop - all is done at the premises of KAMAZ.

According to economists, 585 thous. roubles in April and almost 400 thous. roubles in May were saved due to repair with the use of spare parts made by the company. Besides, it is efficient and fast. It usually took the serice center up to seven weeks to repair the tools. Orders for production are opened quickly at the repair and tool making plant - each tool is under control.
