KAMAZ presented its vehicles at an exhibition organized on February 12 as part of the final Board of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The meeting was held at the site of the Cultural and Leisure Complex named after V.I. Lenin in Kazan. Before the start of the meeting dedicated to the results of the activities of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2023 and the tasks for 2024, Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexey Pesoshin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko and other leaders visited the specialized exhibition at which the products of Tatarstan’s leading industrial enterprises were presented. KAMAZ presented the popular in Russia models which are already produced on a new sanctions-resistant component base.
One of the exhibits is the KAMAZ-54901 long-haul tractor. When creating the anti-sanction version of the flagship of the K5 generation trucks, a goal was defined: not only to maintain the same level of consumer properties, but also to surpass them. KAMAZ coped with this task: as a result, it launched the new version of the truck which is equipped with a cab frame made of localized steel, a 13-liter engine, a modernized dashboard, an increased screen size with the function of controlling the truck through on-screen symbols. These and many other advanced technical solutions made it possible to create a brand new truck.
The new version of the truck with improved performance will be available from February 2023. The updated model with index 54901 has improved smoothness, reduced fuel consumption, and increased cabin noise insulation. At the same time, the key advantages remained unchanged. Features include a cabin with a flat floor, 2500 mm wide and 1980 mm high, which allows the driver of a long-haul tractor to move at full height and provides special comfort, as well as a highly efficient, economical KAMAZ engine enhanced to 482 hp and automatic transmission. Suppliers and manufacturers of automatic transmissions, drive axles, fuel systems and other components were replaced, and the production of KAMAZ-54901 no longer depends on the supply of components from unfriendly countries. This allows KAMAZ to guarantee its customers the availability of spare parts and high-quality service for the supplied vehicles.
Also, the interest of visitors was aroused by a new model of the K5 line – the KAMAZ-6595 dump truck with a 6x4 wheel arrangement. The truck features a modern, comfortable cabin with large internal volume, improved passive safety and visibility. The use of a reinforced frame and 16-tonne axles made it possible to increase the load capacity of the dump truck to 25 tonnes. For driver comfort, a climate system with air conditioning, an auxiliary heater, an air-suspended seat, a multifunction steering wheel, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors, a new ergonomic instrument panel and a multimedia system with a 10-inch diagonal touch screen are installed. The three-section metal front bumper provides the vehicle with increased geometric cross-country ability and is highly maintainable. The vehicle is equipped with a 20 m³ dump platform with an exhaust gas heating system. Economical KAMAZ 910.52-460 engine with a power of 482 hp gives the truck excellent dynamic qualities.
KAMAZ is actively modernizing technological sites and mastering the production of new products, responding to sanctions pressure with the confident growth of import-substituting production, making a significant contribution to the systemic restoration of the domestic automotive industry.
