27 July 2023

Within the framework of the Second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum held on July 27-28 in St. Petersburg KAMAZ presents three models of vehicles essential for African countries.

KAMAZ demonstrates serial models that are in high demand on the Russian market and have already proven their effectiveness in both commercial and passenger transportation. These exhibits may also be in demand in African countries.

Thus, the flagship created for fast freight traffic – the KAMAZ-54901 (4x2) truck tractor – is presented to the visitors. The truck is equipped with a fuel-efficient KAMAZ-910.52-460 engine with a capacity of 12.9 liters, a power of 460 hp and a torque of 2,400 Nm, a 12-speed automated gearbox with low noise, high efficiency and reduced fuel consumption. Of particular note is a modern, spacious cab with a flat floor and two sleeping berths, which gives an increased level of comfort for the driver's work and rest, which reduces his fatigue and, as a result, increases the safety of cargo delivery.

The second exhibit presented at the KAMAZ stand is the serial low–floor NEFAZ-5299 bus which is especially essential for passenger transportation in fast-growing cities in Africa. The bus meets modern requirements for passenger safety and comfort and is designed to operate on routes with heavy passenger traffic. The NEFAZ is equipped with a ramp for convenient entry into the cabin for passengers with limited mobility and fully complies with the Accessible Environment program. The bus features bright spacious interior, wide storage area, large glazing area, LED interior lighting. The model is equipped with an automatic transmission and an independent front suspension, which ensures smooth running, comfort and maneuverability. The total passenger capacity is 111 people, 29 seats, plus one seat for people with disabilities.

Also, the company's exposition demonstrated the KAMAZ-43118 (6x6.1) all-wheel drive vehicle in demand in Africa. KAMAZ engineers have adapted a time-tested model to work in hot countries, and thanks to all-wheel drive and fordability, the truck can be operated in absolute off-road conditions during the rainy season. It is the modification of the KAMAZ-43118 high-sided vehicle that has been delivered to the fleets of international organizations, including the UN World Food Program. The vehicles are used to deliver humanitarian supplies to hard-to-reach regions of the continent in Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the CAR. In addition, KAMAZ previously supplied trucks as part of a project to combat the effects of Ebola in Guinea and Liberia. KAMAZ special vehicles are also successfully used in agriculture for transporting palm tree fruits, shea nuts and other agricultural products. Also, the trucks are used for transportation of water and fuel, special equipment for geological exploration during mining and water search.

It is worth noting that KAMAZ vehicles have also been supplied to countries such as Libya, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Senegal, Mali, Ghana, Togo, Angola over the years. Despite the increased sanctions pressure, KAMAZ continues to cooperate and work with partners from Africa. At the same time, the company is interested not only in the supply of trucks and spare parts for them, but also in the arrangement of a service network. KAMAZ specialists are ready to provide technical assistance and work together to create the necessary infrastructure for truck maintenance.
