On Thursday, February 2, a government delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Kristina Ozgan attended KAMAZ PTC during a working visit to Tatarstan.
The delegation included Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Abkhazia Teimuraz Khishba, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Abkhazia Artush Saribekyan, heads of administrations of cities and regions of the republic, and other leaders.
During the introductory tour, the guests were shown the operation of the R6 engine block and cylinder head processing line and the inline-six engine assembly line at the engine plant, as well as the cabin assembly line and the main assembly line at the truck assembly plant.
The visit to KAMAZ took place as part of a business trip of the Abkhazian delegation to the Republic of Tatarstan to study its experience in various industries. The day before, the guests met with the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and discussed the prospects for further cooperation between the two countries.
“Tatarstan's relations with Abkhazia have a long and good history,” Rustam Minnikhanov noted. “In August 1994, the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between our republics was signed. Abkhazian delegations regularly participate in various events in our republic. The trade turnover between Tatarstan and Abkhazia is still small, but there are good prospects.” According to the head of the region, Tatarstan and the Republic of Abkhazia have every opportunity to increase trade and enhance cooperation. Tatarstan is ready to supply KAMAZ trucks, tires, engineering products, chemical and petrochemical products, medical and pharmaceutical products to Abkhazia, as well as share experience and best practices in the field of territorial development, creation of a modern urban infrastructure, and attraction of investments.
Having decently withstood the impact of anti-Russian sanctions, today Russia continues to strengthen cooperation with friendly countries: new contracts are being concluded, promising projects are being implemented. KAMAZ, along with other Russian industrial enterprises, is ready to increase strategic cooperation with partner countries. In particular, the visit of the Abkhazian delegation became one of the significant meetings with regard to further development of business and friendly relations between Russia and Abkhazia.
