Irek Gumerov, Deputy General Director for Development of KAMAZ PTC, made a presentation at the event held on the Day of Russian Science, February 8, at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The celebration of the Day of Russian Science was attended by Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State Councilor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilsur Khadiullin, Rector of Kazan Federal University Lenar Safin, heads of academic institutions and universities of the republic, members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan. As part of the event, Irek Gumerov, Deputy General Director for Development of KAMAZ PTC, spoke about the company's cooperation with educational and scientific organizations of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The top manager began his speech with information about the promising product line of the company. Today, KAMAZ engineers are working on the development of the K5 generation of vehicles – freight trucks, all-wheel drive and medium-duty vehicles, developing off-road and forestry vehicles, heavy mining dump trucks, low-carbon and self-driving vehicles. Among the innovative areas of KAMAZ developments are projects for the electrification of transport, autonomous traffic, connected vehicles, and energy-efficient transport.

Implementing promising ideas, the company actively cooperates with educational institutions of the republic – Kazan Federal University (KFU), Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev (KAI), Kazan State Power Engineering University (KSEU). Thus, within the framework of cooperation with KFU, three basic departments have been created in KAMAZ PTC: design and modeling of land transport, lean production, and technology for the production of automotive equipment. In addition, the project of the Cyber Auto Tech advanced engineering school was launched. Today, in close cooperation with the university, work is underway to create a promising line of internal combustion engines and their components, a line of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, to develop promising polymeric materials for the automotive industry and other areas relevant to the country's auto industry.

Together with KAI, the Perspective Environmentally Friendly Vehicles with High Consumer Properties, and Creation of the Line of KAMAZ Engines Running on Alternative Fuels projects were implemented. Two basic departments have been created in KAMAZ PTC: laser and additive technologies, lean manufacturing. Among the current topical areas are the production of self-driving vehicles and an all-terrain 4x4 complex, an electrically-driven water pump, the optimization of the material for the cylinder head of the KAMAZ V8 engine, and others.

As the speaker noted relying on the achievements of domestic science, KAMAZ is working to develop the country's technological sovereignty. Today in Russia much attention is paid to the integration of education, science and real production, and the leader of the Russian truck engineering industry is an active participant in this process. KAMAZ PTC is an industrial partner of the Professionalitet federal program. The company's partners include more than 80 colleges and universities with which active work is underway. Together with partner universities, KAMAZ opens engineering classes in schools. Every year about 2,000 students do internships in KAMAZ subdivisions, and every year 600 graduates are employed by the enterprise.

“The company is ready to organize a full cycle of training and education of future personnel with the universities of the Republic of Tatarstan, starting from school age, ending with master's degree graduates and young scientists. For example, thanks to many years of experience in the field of engine development, in close cooperation with the country's leading universities, KAMAZ managed to form an advanced scientific and technical reserve and create one of the best schools of engine designers. The company has the necessary resources to spread the accumulated experience and established practices to other projects,” Irek Gumerov emphasized.

Today, when KAMAZ and other Russian industrial enterprises are steadily launching the production of new high-tech products that are not only able to replace imported analogues, but also meet all current trends, the assistance of Russian science plays an important role. The projects implemented at KAMAZ serve as a good example of this effective alliance.
