KAMAZ STARTS ASSEMBLY OF SANCTION-RESISTANT TRUCKS OF K5 GENERATION

According to the production plan of KAMAZ PTC, in February, 272 KAMAZ-54901 trucks of the new K5 generation will be assembled at the truck assembly plant. More than 70 units of them will be manufactured using components localized in Russia and friendly countries.

It should be recalled that KAMAZ planned to return to full-scale production of new generation trucks from February 2023 and to produce about 500 K5 trucks monthly by the end of the first quarter. As Yury Gerasimov, First Deputy General Director – Executive Director of KAMAZ PTC, explained, a certain reconfiguration of the conveyor and logistics is required due to the fact that KAMAZ-54901 tractors have undergone significant modernization and become more technologically advanced.

“At the moment, production is being adjusted for a new model,” said Yury Gerasimov. “Our task is to first reach the rate of 18 K5 trucks per day, and then increase it to the business plan. The task is complicated by the fact that the conveyors of the automobile plant are loaded with the production of equipment of other generations, which is also in high demand. It is very important to synchronize these processes.”

Recently, huge efforts and significant investments have been made to re-equip Russian enterprises, modernize them and develop new technologies, which allowed the country to ensure technological sovereignty and withstand the sanctions strike. This serious work was actively carried out by the specialists of KAMAZ PTC. Over the past few years, in preparation for the production of trucks of the latest generation K5, in the course of implementing the large-scale project Reengineering of Automotive Production and Creation of a Promising Family of KAMAZ Vehicles, all production sites of the company have been significantly modernized.

KAMAZ, along with other Russian industrial enterprises, withstood the impact of anti-Russian sanctions with dignity and continues to strengthen the country's technological sovereignty.
