The first updated KAMAZ-54901 freight truck was assembled at the KAMAZ truck assembly plant. The release of this version of K5 will not depend on the supply of components fr om unfriendly countries.
The first updated KAMAZ-54901 freight truck was assembled on the conveyor in the general flow. Despite the consequences of sanctions pressure (the cessation of supplies of components from a number of countries), last year 150 trucks indexed 54901 rolled off the production line every month – auto components from warehouse stocks were used in their production.
The new version of the tractor has improved technical characteristics. The truck is equipped with modified cooling, neutralization systems, electrical equipment, on-board information system, suspension of the cab and the whole heavy truck. Automatic transmission, drive axle, pneumatic system, and other components of the new K5 vehicles were renewed. In addition, the updated model features improved travelling comfort and reduced fuel consumption. An additional soundproofing layer is also provided on the cab doors – it will provide more comfortable conditions for the driver.
After leaving the main assembly line, the truck was inspected by specialists from the quality department of KAMAZ in accordance with the standard procedure. After the elimination of the identified deviations, the truck will be sent to the Scientific and Technical Center of the company, wh ere its components and assemblies will undergo a series of tests. The certification of the updated model will be followed by its serial assembly.
Recall that during 2022, the company's specialists were localizing imported components. A lot of work had been done with alternative Russian suppliers and suppliers from friendly countries before KAMAZ started assembling sanctions-resistant K5 generation trucks. In February, more than 70 KAMAZ-54901 vehicles will be assembled at the truck assembly plant using components localized in Russia and friendly countries.
